I have gone back and forth on this since the episode ended. I can now 100% say that I completely stand behind Sam in his decision. Let me tell you why. I am a Dean girl, (as long as it’s just between Sam and Dean. You throw Cas in there and it’s a whole different story lol) but Dean has to learn that Sam is a grown ass man. Now I understand part of it is John’s fault. Shit, his WHOLE LIFE has been “no matter what you do, take care of Sam.” So I don’t fault him too much, but at some point, this shit has to stop. Gadreel could have killed Sam. And then what? I mean Dean has gone to hell and back (LITERALLY) to save Sam, and that’s great, only this time, Sam didn’t want to be saved. Dean TRICKED Sam, and to just sweep that under the rug and move on like nothing happened, is crazy. Yes, he’s the boy with the demon blood, yes he raised Lucifer and started the Apocalypse, and yes, he even left Cas and Dean in purgatory, but does that mean he doesn’t deserve to be at peace? Death himself came to reap Sam and take him to Heaven and Dean robbed him of that chance, and lied to him for months about it. Don’t get me wrong, I get it. I get that Dean wanted to keep his baby brother around, but at what cost? I hope this is something the boys can work through and get past, but I honestly don’t know….
